Sorry, I am not a fan of Thunder storms. It's the sound that bothers me... I know there is nothing to fear from the sound... but it startles me every time.

As a matter of fact, I am.

Here is Michigan the storms mainly come out of the west across Lake Michigan and I have many many times gone to the lakeshore to some cliffs I know of and friends and I would dangle our feet over the edge, about 80 foot above the water and watch a thunderstorm roll in.

As you said, you can feel it coming, the change in temperatures, the pressure changes, the smell of moisture in the air, the wind begins to get faster and the light show gets closer and closer.

I have taken a recording of Enya with me and played Watermark as the storms got closer and found it added to it in a new way to enjoy the experience though nothing beats the natural sounds of the birds chirping and the frogs and crickets starting to sing with the approach of the weather.

I have taken many photos and videos over the years as well and more then once when I was at a local state park from the south to north along lake Michigan shores I have run into others that were there for the same reason.

I met several people that were there for the experience but were not great at photography so passed along some knowledge to help improve their skills and had wonderful conversations about our adventures.

Your time in Orlando sounds interesting if you can count on good storms to come along so regularly though I am thinking maybe I would just wish for a sunny non rainy day if I lived there .... lol

THANK YOU for your posting and the wonderful photos you attached.

Lets hope we get a few good all day long thunderstorms this year to enjoy.

I really like the associated lightning shows, though around here too many of them are in the pre-dawn hours to be really be enjoyed.

As a farm boy, I enjoy anytime it rains. Rain at night meant that sleeping in the next day was a possibility (but not guaranteed). I prefer to avoid large hail with wind, though. I also like that a rainstorm reminds my wife of our honeymoon and often helps her libido.

You can probably thank the flatlands for those storms as most of our Sunday was packed with thunder and lightning. I'd always been able to enjoy and appreciate the brutality of nature that a thunderstorm brought. That is until I rescued my parents' dog about six months ago, who's not a fan. So, yesterday was filled with doggie drugs, a thundershirt, and copious amounts of reassurance.

Love them... as long as I'm sheltered. Love to feel the house rumble. Over here we also get them, combined with a snow and THAT'S wild and weird. Such a rush when the light and the crack of thunder meet! 😎❗❗

Love thunderstorms. I don't get them that much here although last year was a freak occurrence. I wasn't here for it and when I got back half the state was on fire. They do make for some great making out weather. When I lived in Phoenix they get a lot in the summer.

I too am a fan of watching thunderstorms. When I was a kid our house had an open front porch and it was great for watching. Always missed having one to watch from when I got older.
GF and I are heading up to Bayfield, a tourist town in the south shore of Lake Michigan. Forecast has chance of thunderstorms. As the GF said, if we get to watch a good TS then I won't mind the rain.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

We had an amazing thunderstorm last August. While it was "nothing" compared with what some people in other parts of the world experience, it was unprecedented for this area and I'd never seen anything like it before.

It lasted about 90 minutes to two hours and the flashes and rumbles were almost constant throughout.

I don't mind a thunderstorm provided it doesn't do any damage, and I can watch it from indoors.

I can't honestly remember the last really big thunderstorm we had over here?
I'm okay with them...as long as I'm indoors!

Yes I'm a huge fan. When I lived in Jersey I sometimes watched the thunderstorms on the coast of France....the lightning was fantastic.

We are due one here today.

I'm a big fan of them, but we rarely get them here. Also, we don't get thunderbolts... just flashes.

Like you my friend I do love a good thunderstorm. that is the one thing I miss about Arkansas they had some spectacular storms there and the lightening would hit the ground often. One thing about CA we don't get thunderstorms here, hardly any rain either. I hope you enjoy your Tuesday..

Not as big a fan as my sister, who was watching one last week, when it started to rain. She went downstairs, and outside to watch from under the deck; a d while stumbling around in the dark, stubbed her toe and broke it.

When we were young, our Mom usex to take us up on the roof to watch storms. For years later, she was guilt-ridden about "putting us at risk".

Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.
